How to Use Pinterest for Brand Inspiration
When it comes to aesthetics, you may have thought a lot about how you want your brand to look, or it may be something that you feel like is out of your wheelhouse. Like I said, it’s my job to figure this stuff out so don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I’ve never had a client I couldn’t make a logo for.
The Double Pinterest Board
I do have another piece of “homework” that will help us align our ideas for the design of your brand. This requires you to use Pinterest and I’m going to teach you my method for using Pinterest strategically. This is called The Double Pinterest Board and it’s a great way to explore your own style and get in the head of your ideal clients. I’ve created a private Pinterest board and shared it with your email. You’ll notice there are two boards which is the magic part of this process.
Board #1: Anything and Everything
On this board, you’re going to pin anything and everything that inspires you visually. It could be a mountain landscape or a really cool poster or an outfit you love. It doesn’t have to be a graphic element, just anything YOU think is beautiful or YOUR IDEAL CLIENT thinks is beautiful. If you feel totally overwhelmed by this, I encourage you to go through your saved posts on Instagram or your screenshots folder on your phone to find some examples.
Board #2: Brand Specific Inspiration
On the second board, you’re going to save images that are branding specific, logos, fonts, colors, photography, anything as it relates to the DESIGN of your brand. I want you to be really picky with what you save to this board. Don’t save anything unless you love everything about it. Ok, if there’s something you don’t love, leave a comment on the pin that says, “I love everything except the font, or this is perfect but the colors are too bright for me, etc.”
While you’re creating YOUR Pinterest boards, I’ll be doing my own design exploration so when we talk, we can find the things that overlap, the ideas we have in common, and the best visuals for your brand. This is also a great exercise because it helps us align our visual language. When you say you want something “Modern,” you might be picturing something very different from what I would describe as “Modern,” and the Pinterest boards will make sure we’re on the same page.
I’ve created a private Pinterest account just for my 1×1 clients to use with different boards full of design inspiration. I’ve added thousands of pins so you can start somewhere and get an idea of what YOU like and what inspires you.

The more images you save, the easier it will be for us to discover patterns, but at a minimum, please save 25 images to each board (or 50 images total). Please reach out if you have any questions and I’d be happy to help!
